Smooth Muscle Actin (SMA) is a marker for smooth muscle cells and myoepithelial cells. It is widely expressed in the smooth muscle of blood vessel walls, visceral smooth muscle, and myoepithelial cells. SMA is a marker for smooth muscle-derived tumors and is also used to label myoepithelial cells inbreast pathology, aiding in the differential diagnosis of in situ and invasive ductal carcinoma.
