Alpha-1-Fetoprotein (C1B1),MMab

Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) is a 70 kDa glycoprotein that is normally produced during fetal development bythe liver and yolk sac. In adult pathology, elevated AFP expression is a hallmark of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and certain germ cell tumors, particularly yolk sac tumors. AFP IHC is a critical component in the diagnostic workup of liver masses and is used to differentiate HCC from other primary or metastatic liver malignancies.
